15 Hajime Kashimo Joins JJK During The Culling Games Arc

But He's Been Around a Lot Longer Than That

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (2)

Though anime fans have yet to meet Hajime Kashimo, his introduction to the Culling Games made him a fan favorite character. This 400-year-old sorcerer is currently an incarnation inhabiting one of Kenjaku's prepared vessels. He only agrees to take part in the Culling Games for one purpose: to kill Ryomen Sukuna. Though Kashimo started out as an antagonist, his lifelong drive to battle only the strongest led him to become an ally of sorts, as he wanted to be the one to take out Sukuna at long last.

Initially, Kashimo vowed to stop anyone who got in his way, even reducing Panda to little more than a head. As his presence in the manga grew, he targeted Kinji Hakari after learning Hakari was a mentor to Sukuna's vessel. The result was an epic, unforgettable showdown that carried on for several chapters. After Gojo's death, Kashimo entered the fight against Sukuna, finally facing off against the one he considered to be his most powerful challenge. Fans love Kashimo's perspective, his view on a Jujutsu society long passed, and how different it is from the world today.

14 Nobara Kugisaki Is The Balanced Middle Ground Of The Main Trio

Fans Love Kugisaki's Determination

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (3)

✕ Remove Ads

Nobara Kugisaki makes up the female component of the main trio. Not as goofy as Itadori or as serious as Fushiguro, she represents a middle ground of her own. Although not outwardly the strongest in her class, she continues to prove her strength as a talented Jujutsu sorcerer. Unfortunately, her status remains unknown to anime fans, and for many manga readers it was presumed she was dead right up until the final chapters.

It also isn't too much of an exaggeration to say that her weapons of choice — nails, a hammer, and a voodoo doll — are probably among the most unique and eerie in anime. Her fiery spirit and boundless energy keep everyone on their toes, friend or foe, earning her an effortless spot among the show's most popular characters. One of the things that make fans love her is her ability to balance Yuji and Megumi.

13 Maki Zenin Fights to Prove Herself

She Eventually Becomes Even More OP Than Her Cousin, Toji Fushiguro

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (4)

✕ Remove Ads

Maki Zenin is one of the most skilled students at Jujutsu High. She is a relentless combatant and exceedingly quick on her feet. This is particularly exciting since Maki doesn’t have a Cursed Technique of her own, which makes her even more determined to prove to her family she is more than worthy of the Zenin name.

15 Best Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Panels

JJK features awe-inspiring manga panels, from Yuki's battle with Kenjaku and Gojo's awakening to Sukuna taking Shibuya and Yuji's scarred face.

Maki regularly demonstrates her intelligence and fierce abilities on the battlefield. Although she isn’t the tallest, she makes up for it with overwhelming evidence from her Cursed Spirit altercations. Maki’s twin sister, Mai, may have been born with inherent abilities, but it is Maki who first suggests that the two of them make their own way to prove to the clan that women are just as valuable as men.

12 Mahito Is the Kind of Character Fans Love to Hate

Of All the Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, Mahito Is the Most Unhinged

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (6)

Mahito is an unregistered Special Grade Curse who wants nothing more than to see all of humanity replaced by curses. Leading his own group, consisting of Jogo, Dagon, and Hanami, Mahito allied himself and the others with Kenjaku because he believed the chaos they would sow together would bring about his dream. Known as Patch Face at first, Mahito proves to be a challenge to Nanami, and eventually brings the 7:3 Sorcerer to his end, but justice isn't always blind because shortly after killing Nanami in Shibuya, Kenjaku uses Suguru Geto's Curse Manipulation technique to exorcise and absorb Mahito.

✕ Remove Ads

Fans either love or hate Mahito as a character, but there's no denying the action and drama he brings to the story. One thing his character does really well is show just how hard it is for the bullied to heal from their trauma. Junpei Yoshino thought he'd finally found a friend in Mahito, someone who understood him, only for Mahito to further manipulate his already broken spirit.

11 Toge Inumaki Has A Cursed Tongue

Speaking In Sushi Ingredients Endeared Him to Many a Fan

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (7)

Jujutsu Kaisen is filled with interesting characters, each more peculiar than the other. Toge Inumaki is no different. Sorcerers in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe all use Cursed Techniques in one way or another, and Inumaki comes from an exceptional family. For Inumaki, it is through his mouth. Due to his "Cursed Speech," signified by the marks on his tongue and both cheeks, he can't speak normally, since his words are quite literally cursed. Instead, Toge speaks with a limited vocabulary of words that are safe to use, and strangely enough, these safewords are made up of rice ball ingredients, such as "salmon" and "kelp."

With such a powerful technique at his disposal, he has potential to be a major power player. However, being within range of Sukuna's domain during the Shibuya Incident, Toge took an immense amount of damage. He lost his left arm, but he survived, much to the relief of his dedicated fan base.

10 Toji Fushiguro is Immensely Powerful Even Without Cursed Energy

The Sorcerer Killer Almost Took Out the World's Strongest

Toji Fushiguro doesn’t have the best character, but his strength and unaffected demeanor make him a recent fan favorite. Toji always looks out for himself. Even though he was born into the Zenin clan and later took the name Fushiguro, Toji is not affiliated with anyone in particular. Rather, Toji prefers to follow where the money flows, and he's so self-concerned, he even forgets for a minute that he has a kid he left behind. Fans love to talk about him being Megumi's deadbeat dad, but in some ways he redeems himself during the Shibuya Incident when his own son comes face to face with him.

✕ Remove Ads

One of the most interesting things about Toji is how powerful he is without having any Cursed Energy. Because of his lack of Cursed Energy, he can remain invisible to scouts, but Toji’s real power is in his fighting skills. Even though he doesn’t have a Cursed Technique or any other inner magical power, Toji faces Satoru Gojo head-on. Though Toji eventually loses to Gojo, the fact a non-Curse-user could stand up to and almost kill Gojo is remarkable, and one of the many reasons why fans love Toji.

9 Sukuna Has a Way About Him That's Hard to Ignore

Fans Can't Seem to Get Enough of This Brutal Curse

King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna is Jujutsu Kaisen's Big Bad, even if he prefers to play a long game. With so many villains ready to take on the Jujutsu sorcerers, he's got plenty of time to lie in wait. Therefore, despite his title as the King of Curses, there is something about him that fans can't get enough of. Whether it's his dominating presence or confidence is hard to say, but as the story progresses and he actually begins to show the world exactly what he's capable, it quickly becomes apparent why he's the biggest of the bad.

8 Kento Nanami Sees Demon Hunting as a 9-5 Job & Nothing More

Fans Fell In Love With the 7:3 Sorcerer's No Nonsense Approach to Jujutsu

Kento Nanami is one of the strongest sorcerers in the anime, almost on par with Gojo, but only achieving Grade 1 in his lifetime. He quit being a sorcerer at one point after his friend and classmate Haibara was killed in the field and started working as a normal salaryman. He later returned to the fold, simply because sorcery was the only job for which he was thanked. A man of extreme professionalism and maturity, Nanami is the polar opposite of Gojo and carries an air of respect for himself. He treats his position as a Jujutsu Sorcerer as just another job and even refuses to fight demons past usual office hours, hating overtime just as much as anybody.

Nanami became a fan favorite character almost immediately after his introduction to the story. Not only did he take Yuji under his wing in a way Gojo didn't always take seriously, but he was incredible with his blade. He taught Yuji so much, and when he met a tragic end during the Shibuya Incident, fans were treated to a look at the kind of daydreams a man like Nanami harbors.

7 Yuta Okkotsu Comes Into His Own

Yuta's Power Makes Him a Force to be Reckoned With

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (10)

Yuta Okkotsu was once a timid young man who became a Special Grade Cursed Human upon the passing of his best friend, Rika. Although Yuta doesn’t initially have much confidence, Rika’s cursed power more than makes up for any of Yuta’s insecurities. Eventually, Yuta trains under Satoru Gojo and becomes one of the top second-year Jujutsu Sorcerers. Yuta remains kind and humble except for when he’s in a fight with someone who hurt his friends.

✕ Remove Ads

When that happens, he lets the full force of his anger out, showing his enemies his true abilities. Yuta’s newfound confidence and his generally welcoming personality endeared him to fans when he first appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Many have been anxiously awaiting Yuta's return, as Gojo spends a lot of time bragging about how Yuta may very well be more powerfu than he is one day, so fans were happy to see him appear at the end of Season 2 in the anime, and then play an important role throughout the rest of the manga.

6 Choso Kamo's Change of Heart Made Him a Beloved Older Brother Figure

Yuji's Big Brother Stood With Him Against Sukuna Multiple Times

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (11)

As the very first of Kenjaku's Cursed Womb Death Paintings, Choso took his responsibility as a big brother to Kechizu and Eso very seriously. When Yuji, Megumi and Nobara killed his brothers, he swore vengeance, and during the Shibuya Station event, he sided with Mahito and the special grade curses in order to have has revenge. While he was battling Yuji, however, he experienced a false memory when Yuji was on the verge of death, and he recognized him as another one of Kenjaku's Cursed Womb Death Paintings. It took him a bit to pull himself back together after that, but he swore then and there he would protect and fight beside Yuji, whom he viewed as his younger brother.

All throughout the rest of the Story, Choso put himself on the line to stand beside Yuji. It took a bit of time for Yuji to accept Choso's sudden claim as his big brother, but as they fought together, a bond formed between them that was undeniable. Choso was willing to go all the way with his little brother, and the more time they spent together, the more apparent it became to fans what a gentle spirit Choso really was.

5 Naoya Zenin Was One of the Clan's Most Volatile Members

That Is Saying a Lot, Considering How Toxic the Zenin Were

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (13)

It's hard not to sympathize with Maki Zenin and her twin sister Mai, especially as fans are introduced to more members of their toxic family. The big three jujutsu clans pride themselves on their lineage and power, and Naoya, son of Naobito Zenin, was one of the worst examples of just how deeply power can corrupt. Not only is Naoya entitled, he was privileged and spoiled in ways that are bound to turn someone to narcissistic and sociopathic behaviors. After discovering that Megumi Fushiguro was set to become the next head of the Zenin clan, Naoya put plots into motion to destroy Megumi, only to fail.

✕ Remove Ads

When Mai sacrificed herself so Maki could gain power comparable to their cousin, Toji Fushiguro, Maki cut her way through the Zenin clan until she came face to face with Naoya. His superiority complex was so powerful that even as Maki spared him, he refused to admit she was better than him. When Maki's mother stabbed Naoya in the back, he was reborn as a vengeful cursed spirit bent on destroying Maki to prove that he was stronger and deserved to be raised to Toji's status in her place. What makes Naoya Zenin popular enough to land a place in fifth is impossible to tell, but fans love to hate this guy.

4 Suguru Geto Was One Gojo's Moral Compass

Fans Can Easily Sympathize With the Circumstances that Drove HIm Mad

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (14)

✕ Remove Ads

Suguru Geto is popular mostly due to his relationship with Satoru Gojo. The two seemed nearly inseparable during their time at Jujutsu High, and both of them looked out for one another. The rapport that Geto has with Gojo is so strong that their bond lasts long past Geto’s turn to the dark side, with Gojo telling Yuta Okkotsu that the sorcerer-turned-curse-user was his one and only best friend.

Geto is the perpetrator of innumerable crimes, but his past as a young Jujutsu High student is what endears him to fans. After the beginning of the second season focused so much on Gojo and Geto’s time in high school, the creators showed a side to Geto that explains why Gojo has always had a certain rapport with him when they’re adults. For all his current crimes, Geto was once a young, bright-eyed student, which resonates with sympathetic fans.

3 Megumi Fushiguro Has Been a Fan-Favorite from the Start

Megumi's Stoic Nature Makes Him a Perfect Match for Yuji's High Energy

Jujutsu Kaisen: Top 15 Fan-Favorite Characters, Ranked (15)

Both Gojo and Itadori together make an extremely hilarious comedic duo, perhaps a little bit too much, and more often than not, Megumi finds himself at the center of his sensei's teasing. Megumi's more subdued and austere nature serves to keep their team grounded, even if he ends up the butt of many of their jokes. And the banter-fueled dynamic he and Yuji bring to the show makes them both ceaselessly entertaining to watch.

Sorcerers using the Ten Shadows technique can potentially summon ten powerful shikigami creatures, but some are better than others.

✕ Remove Ads

Hailing from a revered Sorcerer family, Megumi is powerful in his own right, with clear potential that even caught the eye of Sukuna himself. Even as fans came to learn more about where Megumi came from, he still remained a mystery they couldn't help but fawn over. Between his banter with Yuji and Nobara, and his determination to give his older sister the life she deserves, Megumi is no doubt one of Jujutsu Kaisen's most beloved characters.

2 Yuji Itadori Proficiently Leads the Series

His Growth Across the Series Makes Yuji a Unique Shonen Hero

Yuji Itadori as a protagonist is not the most solidly written character but, through him, the anime explores new and intriguing avenues within the Shonen genre. In a rather grim setting rife with murder and horrifying demons, Yuji provides some much-needed comic relief. One of Yuji's most likable characteristics is his nearly unflappable nature, a feature that is fairly unique in the genre.

✕ Remove Ads

Where many in Yuji's place might agonize over the many tragedies he regularly faces, Yuji's pragmatic personality ensures that the show's signature quick pace keeps moving. Another of Yuji's draws is the prospect of exploring his immense latent power. While he's far from the most powerful character on the show right now, with a ticking timebomb like Sukuna living within him, Yuji's in for a massive power boost that has fans itching to find out what happens next.

1 Satoru Gojo Is So OP That Only Plot Armor Saves the Other Characters

The World's Strongest Sorcerer May Be Gone, but Never Forgotten

✕ Remove Ads

Just like in the series, Satoru Gojo's reputation speaks for itself, easily placing him among the most beloved Jujutsu Kaisen characters. Gojo is a sensei-type character, but at times can be the most childish of them all. However, Gojo's irreverent nature never overshadows his status as the show's most powerful sorcerer, as he shows time and time again in impressive feats against high-level Curses. He's proven so powerful that he's often written out of episodes to give the greener protagonists a chance to shine.

Sealing Gojo away in the Prison Realm for chapter after chapter forced Yuji to grow in unforgettable ways, but when he was eventually released the strongest sorcerer in the world had no choice but to face off against Sukuna. Fans were devastated when Sukuna and Gojo went toe to toe, breaking each other down over and again, until Sukuna finally got the last laugh. That being said, Gojo's spirit will live on forever in the students he trained and the changes his efforts brought to the Jujutsu world.
